Since opening its doors in 1998, the seafront attraction has connected families, friends, and loved ones from around the world to the beauty and wonder of the aquatic world. The Oceanarium celebrates its 25th anniversary with popular character meet and greets from your favourite TV shows, including SpongeBob Squarepants, TMNT’s Michelangelo, & Octonauts’ Captain Barnacles! If that wasn’t enough to keep the little ones entertained, face painting will also be available in Bay View as well as chances to win prizes and special talks to reflect on the history of the Oceanarium!
To celebrate this incredible milestone even further, the Oceanarium is excited to reveal a penguin chick has joined the colony and will be on Penguin Beach, just in time for the celebrations!
The Oceanarium was also delighted to collaborate with St Michaels Primary School for the 25th anniversary where year five students painted pebbles to be displayed on Penguin Beach Encounter in the shape of a 25. The partnership made a full circle from when the local school first collaborated with the aquarium by children laying bricks on the building ahead of its opening.
